POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Position: Business Manager
Exempt Non-Certified Professional, Full-Time, 12-month Staff
District Employee Assigned to Administration
Starting Date: July 1, 2025
Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Schedule: General work schedule of 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, unless the assignment requires additional time for completion.
Compensation
Package: $82,930 minimum salary annually, commensurate with experience. Health, dental, vision, paid life insurance, and teachers’ retirement paid; flexible benefits plan; sick leave, vacation, and paid holidays. The total minimum compensation package is approximately $106,930 minimum annually.
Primary
Function: Serve as the business manager for the district. Assist in the duties of all financial and business affairs of the district. Oversee the financial systems used by the district and the requirements of Oklahoma school financial law.
Education: A Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or related business field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or school finance is preferred. Technical knowledge of CareerTech school finance and accounting procedures is preferred. Proficiency in Microsoft Office components Excel and Word is required, must have the ability to build and format reports and analyze data. Use of presentation software and internet research skills preferred.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Exempt, Non-Certified Professional, Full-time, 12-month Staff
TITLE: BUSINESS MANAGER
Hours:
Monday through Friday, and 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Supervisor retains the right to adjust the work schedule and job description/duties based on the needs of the district.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Comply with all state and federal laws, policies, and procedures of the school district.
- Ensure that business operations are supportive of the instructional goals and objectives of the District and the attainment of the campus performance objectives maintaining accreditation.
- Communicate effectively with staff, community, media, and Board of Education.
- Ensure that the mission of the Business Office supports the mission of the District.
- Assist with the planning and conducting of needs assessment related to the business operations of the District.
- Active participation in the development, improvement, and implementation of the policies and procedures of the business office to ensure the effective operation of the district.
- Reconcile bank statements and investment accounts.
- Develop and maintain positive staff morale within the business office.
- Assist in the duties of the operation of all financial and business affairs of the district including accounting, purchasing, inventory, fixed assets, activity fund accounting, accounts payable, budget planning, and payroll.
- Balance federal financial aid expenditures. Prepare draws of Title IV funds.
- Prepare and submit financial reports promptly for the Board, the Oklahoma Department of CareerTech Education, auditors, and federal programs.
- Maintain responsible fiscal control over campus and program budgets following generally established accounting standards.
- Responsible for supervising the payroll and accounts payable system and providing backup as needed.
- Develop individual goals and objectives that are in alignment with the philosophy, goals, and objectives of the District.
- Maintain a professional attitude through participation in civic and professional organizations, including, OkACTE and the Oklahoma Association of School Business Officials.
- Attend the annual OkACTE Conference and other conferences as required.
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance when representing Northeast Tech.
- Regular attendance following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work scheduled and extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
- Any other responsibilities or duties assigned by the Supervisor and/or Superintendent.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree with a major in accounting or related business field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or school finance is preferred.
- Ability to consistently deliver superior customer service and work quality to internal and external customers.
- Proficient in computer usage skills required in tracking financial information using an automated accounting Use of presentation software and internet research skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office components Excel and Word required.
- Evidence of skills important to fulfilling the position's responsibilities is important.
- Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
- Cannot be related to currently seated district school board members within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity.
Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
- Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously with associated deadlines.
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality regarding sensitive school, client, and student information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
- Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
- Must be capable of being calm and professional with numerous different personalities at various levels.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office components Excel and Word. Excel skills must include the ability to build and format formal reports.
Training and Meeting Requirements:
- View or attend required Safety Training either by video or in person quarterly.
- Attend professional development training opportunities as required by district policy.
- Attend meetings and provide information to the Administration or Board of Education as requested.
Work Environment:
- Operates in a professional office environment and/or classroom.
- Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, ten-key calculators, and fax machines.
Physical, Mental Demands, and Dependability:
- Light physical effort is required for example: loading paper in a copier, and answering and returning phone calls.
- Must be able to: care for oneself, see, hear, walk, stand, lift, bend, reach, climb, stoop, squat, speak, breathe, learn, read, concentrate, think, and perform work by doing manual tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Terms of Employment:
At-will for the first year of employment. After the first year, employment is considered annually in accordance with Oklahoma law.
Annual Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Oklahoma law and the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluations. |
