POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

 

Position:             Culinarian

                           Non-Exempt Support, Full-Time, 10-month Staff

                           District Employee Assigned to Claremore Campus

                          

Starting Date:      August 1, 2024

 

Reports to:          Lead Culinarian          

 

Schedule:            6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a half-hour meal break, Monday through Friday each week (schedule may be adjusted by supervisor but will maintain 40 hours per week).

Compensation

Package:             $27,395 minimum annually, commensurate with experience. Health, dental, vision, paid life insurance, and teachers’ retirement paid; flexible benefits plan; sick leave, vacation, and paid holidays. The total compensation package of $48,395 minimum per year.    

Primary

Function:            In order to promote quality career and technical training by providing a nutritious, economical meal program for students and staff, responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to assisting in the snack bar as necessary to help with food preparation, food serving, operating the cash register, stocking and cleaning of snack bar facility. Responsibilities also include any other duties assigned by the Campus Director.

 

Education:          High school diploma or GED.

 

Experience:         Experience in school or commercial food preparation and service is preferred; good communication skills and basic computer skills are preferred. Evidence of skills important to fulfilling the position's responsibilities is important.

NORTHEAST TECHNOLOGY CENTER

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Non-Exempt, Support, Full-time, 10-month Staff

 

TITLE:            CULINARIAN

 

Hours:              6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. or 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. with a 30-minute lunch. The supervisor retains the right to adjust the work schedule based on the needs of the district.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Comply with all state and federal laws, policies, and procedures of the school district.
  2. Attend professional development training as required.
  3. Arrange setup for food items, supplies, serving lines, and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring that items are provided in accordance with cafeteria requirements.
  4. Clean utensils, equipment, and the storage, food preparation and serving areas (e.g. ovens, steamers, fryers, mixers, slicers, freezers, dishes, tableware, kitchen utensils, counters, carts, racks, and dishwashing machine, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions.
  5. Operate a cash register or handle financial transactions in accordance with district policy.
  6. Evaluate prepared food for flavor, appearance, and temperature.
  7. Inspect food items and/or supplies (e.g. items being sent or received from satellite kitchens, vendors, etc.) for the purpose of verifying quantity and specifications of orders and/or complying with mandated health standards.
  8. Inventory food, condiments, and supplies to ensure the availability of items.
  9. Prepare and serve food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional requirements and projected meal requirements and/or requests of students and school personnel.
  10. Report equipment malfunctions for the purpose of maintaining equipment in safe, working order.
  11. Respond to inquiries of students, staff and/or parents for the purpose of providing information and/or direction regarding the type and/or cost of meals.
  12. Work well with others and strive to be a team player.
  13. Regular attendance following a designated work schedule. Must be able to work scheduled and extended hours and additional days/evenings as required by position responsibilities.
  14. Any other responsibilities or duties assigned by the Supervisor or Superintendent.

 

Education, Experience, and Qualifications:    

  1. High school diploma or GED.
  2. Required criminal history background check and proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status.
  3. Cannot be related to currently seated district school board members within the second degree of affinity or consanguinity.

 

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:   

  1. Must be able to prepare food items in a commercial-style kitchen.
  2. Must be able to handle cash register transactions.
  3. Must be able to clean and sanitize the kitchen and service area according to state requirements.
  4. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
  5. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  6. Must be capable of being calm and professional with numerous different personalities at various levels.

 

 

Training and Meeting Requirements:

  1. View or attend required Safety Training either by video or in person on a quarterly basis.
  2. Attend professional development training opportunities as required by district policy.
  3. Attend meetings and provide information to the Administration or Board of Education as requested.

 

Work Environment:

  1. Operate in a commercial-style
  2. May use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
  3. Must have a valid Driver’s license and the ability to drive to meetings and training using a school vehicle.

 

Physical, Mental Demands, and Dependability:

  1. Moderate physical effort is required for example, preparing meals for large groups and everything associated with the activity, setting up the dining area, and cleaning up after meals, must be able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  2. Must be able to: care for oneself, see, hear, walk, stand, lift, bend, reach, climb, stoop, squat, speak, breathe, learn, read, concentrate, think, and perform work by doing manual tasks, with or without reasonable accommodation.

 

Reports to:        Lead Culinarian

 

Terms of Employment:           

At-will for the first year of employment. After the first year, employment is considered annually in accordance with Oklahoma law.

 

Annual Evaluation:

The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with Oklahoma law and the provisions of the board’s policy on evaluations.
